Our team

The Société d'histoire de Rawdon was created from the initiative of a small group of individuals who undertook, in November 2021, to translate the "Rawdonhistory.com". Over time, this team grew and acquired new competencies. Initially known as the “Groupe pour l’histoire de Rawdon,” this group completed, in April 2022, the translation of over 30 000 words recounting various events in the history of Rawdon. Noting the lack of bilingual websites on the history of Rawdon and its different cultural communities, in May 2022, the group began a research program on the history of Rawdon and started developing a website (www.histoirederawdon.ca). With the creation of this website, this group of aficionados aims to research, document, disseminate and preserve the history of the municipality. Recognizing the multicultural nature of its community, it wishes to make this historical information available in several languages.

In November 2022, noting the sustained efforts of the first collaborators, the addition of several other people and the support given by the Municipality and various organizations and institutions of Rawdon, the group decided to formalize the organization and create the Société d’histoire de Rawdon, a Not-For-Profit organization under Government of Canada’s legislation. The Certificate of Incorporation was obtained on January 11th 2023.
